SilBind™
Fluorine-free Binders for Lithium Battery Electrode
SilbindTM is a fluorine-free binder for lithium battery electrodes that can replace conventional PVDF and PTFE binders. It exhibits high solubility in NMP solvent during wet processing, enabling the use of a reduced amount of NMP solvent or the application of a solvent-free dry process, thereby allowing the fabrication of high-loading, thick-film electrodes.
Features
Environmental and Regulation Benefits
- Fluorine-free alternatives to replace conventional PVDF and PTFE binders
- Low NMP solvent content or solvent-free dry process
Cost and Process Efficiency
- Elimination of hazardous NMP solvent
- Reduced solvent handling and drying facilities
Improved Electrode Structure and Performance
- Fabrication of thick, high-loading electrode
- Improved energy density and longer cycle life
SilBind™W
Wet Processing Fluorine-free Binder
– Reduced NMP Solvent Usage
A : B : C = 95.5 : 3 : 1.5 Slurry

Lower viscosity despite using less solvent -> improved coating performance
– Thick and High mass-loading Electrode / High Energy Density

80mm thick electrode, ~25mg/cm2 loading
Energy density (Wh) = ∫V(Q)dQ ≈ Vavg x Q
To increase energy density -> High mass loading + High cut-off voltage
Lower viscosity despite using less solvent -> improved coating performance
– Long Term Cycle Stability (Room/High Temp. + High Voltage)
Room Temp. (25℃)
High Temp. (60℃)
High Voltage (3-4.7V)
